Matthew 7

Matthew 7 finishes the sermon on the mountain by Jesus.  These three chapters (5-7) have to be three of the most packed chapters in the bible with so many points made by the Teacher.  The last two verses say that the crowds were astonished because he taught as one that had authority.  After reading the last three chapters, I am also astonished and can only imagine how awesome it must have been to sit at Jesus feet.

I could not do this chapter justice by limiting the discussion to just 1 or 2 points to discuss, so I will list some of my favorites.

The chapter starts out “Do not judge, so that you may not be judged.  For with the judgment you make you will be judged.”  Consideration of this statement should affect the way you treat other people.

“Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you.”  How important is prayer?

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.”  This says to me that just because I proclaim Jesus as Lord doesn’t guarantee eternal life.  I should always be striving to be an effective worker for God.

Have a great day,
