Matthew 21

Matthew 21, Jesus starts off the chapter with his triumph entry into Jerusalem.  I am amazed at how many things Jesus did to fulfill prophesy.  Jesus was always using the scripture that was very well known to the chief priest and scribes to support his actions.  Even though they had a vast knowledge of prophesy and could see it unfolding before their eyes, they still refused to acknowledge Jesus as the Messiah.

The parable at the end of the chapter is major turning point for the direction of God’s “people.”  Jesus is basically saying that the Jew’s had rejected the Messiah and that the Kingdom of  God would be taken from them and given to the gentiles.  (Matthew 21:43) Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of
God will be taken away from you and given to a people that produces the fruits of the kingdom. (NRSV)  What an awesome privilege and responsibility.

Have a great day,
