John 2

John 2 tells about Jesus first miracle, he runs the money changers out of the temple, and he foretells of his resurrection.

My aah-ha moment for this days reading surrounds verse 10 “…and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and then the inferior wine after the guests have become drunk. But you have kept the good wine until now.”  (NRSV)  Ok, Jesus has just turned the water into wine and the headwaiter taste the wine and makes the above declaration.  The way I understand it is that the headwaiter is saying, now that we are drunk, you are bringing out the good wine?  So, is Jesus at a wedding party were people are in the process of getting drunk and it appears that it was the common tradition to do so and makes gallons more wine for this to continue?  I guess this is just like him to be hanging out where we don’t think he should.  Yet again the physician has gone to where he is needed.

Have a great day,
Doug.
