John 4

John 4, Jesus meets the Samaritan woman at the well.  Many Samaritan’s believe that Jesus is the Messiah and they ask him to stay a couple days, which he does.  The chapter ends with Jesus healing the son of a royal official from Capernaum.

Today my thoughts are on (John 4:35) “Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest.  (NAS95)   I wonder if the harvest is ready in our area of responsibility.  Sure there are some fruit that can be gathered here and there.  But it doesn’t seem that people are not looking for God.  We live in the richest country in the world with the highest standard of living, people are satisfied.  This may be why Jesus said that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to go to heaven.  May be I am not looking at the right fields.  I won’t even go fishing for souls unless I think that it is someone that is a good person or someone who would be a good fit for the family I commune with.  I need to pay more attention to throwing out the lure and catching the fish and let Jesus do the cleaning.

Have a great day,
Doug.
