John 7

John 7, I must have never read this chapter before.   Jesus was staying in Galilee instead of going to Judea because the Jews were trying to kill him, but, he went anyway.  And he didn’t just slip around Jerusalem; he went right to the temple and began to teach.

There are several references in this chapter where the Jews were looking for opportunity to kill him and they sent the temple police to arrest him.  However, verse 30, So they were seeking to seize Him; and no man laid his hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come.  (NAS95)  Here he was in the middle of a festival, in the temple, teaching, claiming to be deity, and it even seem that the crowd was split in that some believed he was the Messiah, others believed that he was a deceiver.  Yet as much as they wanted to kill/arrest him, his time had not yet come.

The lesson that I gain from this is patience and trust.  I should have patience and trust in the Lord that his will, will be done, in his time.

Have a great day,
Doug.
