John 9

John 9, this is the story of Jesus healing the man that had been blind since birth by mixing spit and dirt and applying the mud to his eyes and having him wash in a pool called Siloam.  Since this happened on a Sabbath, the Pharisees questioned the man, his parents, and the man a second time trying to keep the credit from going to Jesus.  Some of the Pharisees were trying to say that Jesus was a sinner because he healed on the Sabbath.  It appears that some of the Pharisees and the man were contending that a sinner could not perform such miracles.

Jesus uses this opportunity to talk about a deeper subject that the opening of the blind man’s eyes, he was teaching them about opening their eyes to his deity and his teachings.  I have had my eyes closed for a long time.  My idea of study was to go to the scriptures to find support for some interpretation of something that I agreed with.  To go to the word and try to look at it fresh without the non-biblical traditions of our past is hard, but I have been rewarded with comprehension in a different light.

Have a great day,
Doug.
