John 13

John 13, Jesus is sharing in the Passover with his disciples and he washes their feet and tells them that one of them will betray him.  He tells them that he is going away and that where he is going they can not follow.  Peter says that he will lay down his life for him.  Jesus tells Peter that before the rooster crows Peter will deny him three times.

The story about Jesus washing the disciple’s feet is humorous to me.  Peter tells Jesus that he will never wash his feet.  Jesus replies that if I don’t wash your feet you have no part with me.  Peter’s response is “don’t stop at my feet, wash my hands and my head too.”

(John 13:27) After he received the piece of bread, Satan entered into him. Jesus said to him, “Do quickly what you are going to do.”  (NRSV)  This verse struck me tonight that even Satan could not control him self to prevent even one of the prophesies about the Messiah from coming true.  If Satan had not entered into Judas, would he still have betrayed him?  Interesting to think about, but the answer would still have been the same because God’s will “WILL” be done.  One way or another the prophesy will always be fulfilled if it is God’s will that it be done.

Have a great day,
