John 15

John 15, Jesus continues to give his disciples instructions on proceeding once he is gone.  He tells them to Love one another as he has loved him.  He then tells them again about the comforter that is coming when he is gone.

(John 15:9-14) As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete. “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you.  (NRSV)

It is becoming increasingly clear that the intent behind your actions is as much or more important as the act itself.  The love in your heart should be from Christ.  If we try to out do each other in our love for each other, how strong of soldiers can we become for The Way?

Have a great day,

Doug.
